The program is guided by data-driven resource allocation, proactive enforcement, intelligence-led policing, and neighborhood engagement. Bercaw says the city of Tampa has also benefited from the department’s Violent Impact Player program and the Crime Gun Intelligence Center. The Violent Impact Player program (VIP) identifies violent offenders who are likely to reoffend and targets them with the aim of reducing crime risk. The Crime Gun Intelligence Center uses technology to match shooters to the guns they used.
